similar to the Web equivalent of brand names or
identities.
Your customers buy your products
and services, get support and make payments by
finding your company on the World Wide Web, by
typing the domain name in the familiar window
bar on their web browser. It is also used to
identify where to route email destined for the
domain owner. An appropriate name will provide
easy recall and navigation to ensure that they
get to the desired web address effortlessly.
The infrastructure that enable this is called
the Domain Name System (DNS). Domain names are
divided into 2 broad sets, Generic names, (eg.
.com .info .biz ) are generally available for
any company or persons to register. Country
specific names (eg. Com.sg, com.hk and .us)
tend to be restricted to country domiciles and
trademark holders. Of late many countries have
opened up registrations to everyone world wide.
Domains are generally issued on a
first-come-first serve basis for a pre-defined
period. The prices given below are all in Euros
